Clicks from 30 to 50 a month to 200 to 300 on a Google Ad Grant.
Mind Share Partners is a nonprofit working on mental health at work. They had a Google Ad Grant, which gives nonprofits up to $10,000 a month in free search advertising, and were using almost none of it.
The situation
A Google Ad Grants account producing 30 to 50 clicks a month. Grant accounts have strict rules on quality and click-through rate, and most nonprofits never get theirs working.
What we found
Campaigns targeting a handful of brand terms, ad copy that hadn't changed in a year, and none of the structure the grant program rewards: tight ad groups, sitelinks, conversion tracking, and content matched to what people actually search.
What we changed
We rebuilt the account around the organization's resources and reports, wrote ads for each theme, set up conversion tracking so the grant's automated bidding had something to optimize toward, and kept the account inside the program's rules.
What happened
Three months in, impressions went from under 200 a week to about 3,000 a week, clicks from 30 to 50 to 200 to 300, and the account held a click-through rate above 5%, all on the grant, with the traffic landing on the resources the organization most wanted people to find.
“Maybe 30 to 50 clicks, and now we're at 200 to 300 a month.”
